ECE 2883 HPC Labs
Online material supporting lab exercises will appear here. If you are an ECE2031 student, note that you should be looking here.
Lab 1
Nothing is due in advance. We will be working through these steps. See you in Van Leer E283.
Lab 2
SMEs: Quartus tutorial
non-SMEs: Experiments with project components
In both cases, there is something to turn in. You can bring this to the seminar on Sept. 3.
Lab 3 (Sept. 9 - Sept. 17)
LEs (Logic Experts): Combinational Logic with Quartus
Non-LEs: Combinational Logic Learning Module
In both cases, there is something to turn in. You can bring this to the seminar on Sept. 17
Lab 4 (Sept. 18 - Sept. 24)
non-LEs: Quartus tutorial This is the same exercise performed by the LEs about two weeks ago. There are two things to turn in, but they are described as PDF comments. When doing this with the LEs, we learned that some browsers don't show comments, so it is suggested that you download the PDF and open in Acrobat Reader.
LEs: Designing with VHDL You get the break that the non-LEs had last week, since you can do this lab entirely at home. Turn in the VHDL source file mentioned at the end.
In both cases, there is something to turn in. You can bring this to the seminar on Sept. 24.
Project Lab Work #1 (Oct. 5 - Oct. 15)
Read these instructions.
Work with your team, including an initial session where most or all of you are present to meet with Dr. Collins, Kevin Johnson, or both. Monday, October 5 is ideal for this, at any time between 2:30 and 7:00 PM.
The midterm break is upon us soon, and we will not have a new assignment until after it has passed, but we should discuss what you accomplished in lab before then (Oct. 8, in the seminar).
